Thank you for taking some time to be interviewed for Trap Metal Magazine. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers who might not already know your name?
I make music under the name Original God and I honestly don’t think I could describe my sound, I just make whatever I feel needs to be let out.
Where does the name come from? Is there a story? Or did it just sound cool?
A mix between me thinking that’s what OG stood for growing up and also while working at an orphanage in Mexico connecting and taking care of a kid who often wore a shirt with “OG” on it.
Where does your journey in the music industry start? Were you playing any other instruments or participating in any other creative endeavors before this one?
I have always been a creative soul whether painting, making home movies, or playing in a makeshift metal band. I’ve been making music ever since I can remember though release my first song as “Original God” in 2014 though didn’t start taking it seriously until 2018.
Who gets bragging rights for helping you get to where you are now? Who are your day ones?
My family & friends, they know who they are. In terms of other artists, Yung Bambi.
What do you have planned for the rest of the year? Any new albums, singles, shows, or music videos dropping later?
My band The God Hand’s first studio album will be releasing later this year. I also am working on the next Original God album for next year. I have some shows coming up in the UK, Texas, Japan, and LA too. Though my main focus has been directing & screenwriting.

What is your local music scene like? What are the pros? What are the cons? And where do you see room for improvement?
Everything they tell you about LA is true sadly. I’m honestly pretty detached from the music scene though for anyone willing to brave it I’d say be yourself no matter what and don’t bend to the will of others, a lot of these people aren’t your friends and I think that was the most difficult thing for me to learn. I would love to see music (especially live performances) going back to being about the art & community, not an image, brand, or just for social media.
With an interest in who your influences are. If you could go on tour with anyone in the world, who would you choose?
David Lynch. Inio Asano. Hideaki Anno. Andrei Tarkovsky. Charles Baudelaire. Marilyn Monroe. There’s a lot hahah. In terms of touring film has been my main focus so I don’t really have a “dream tour”, though playing with Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas or Nine Inch Nails would be cool.
How have you had to overcome adversity? What are some of the trial and tribulations that molded you into the artists that you are now?
Putting yourself out there is always the hardest part especially for those like me who struggle with mental illness & are more focused on the music, not everything that comes with it. Being stabbed in the back, being tarnished, and abandoned at your lowest was something I had to get used to, though I will say I don’t think I have the mindset or drive that others do as I feel I make music because I have to not because I want to or have a goal outside of expressing myself & helping others. While I do work really hard & pour my soul into my music I think people will have a better understanding of me if they follow my film work.
What is the end game for you? Where do you see yourself in 20 years? What about 30 years? And where do you want to be in life, when it’s time to leave this realm.
Hopefully seeing the world, having a family, and making more movies. I want a lot of pets too.
As we wrap this up, I just want to say thank you for your time. And is there anything else you would like our readers to know?
I hope you have a wonderful day regardless of if you like my music or me, thank you for taking the time to read this & help the world feel even just a little more love in these dark times.
